What training do your staff have?

Stenton Home Care

Home Care in Stenton

All our staff go through an induction training programme that has been discussed and agreed with the Care Inspectorate and East Lothian Council. It covers a wide range of topics, such as the National Care Standards, the Codes of Practice for Care Workers, Adult Support and protection policies, personal values in caring, dementia awareness, infection control, medication administration, emergency first aid and all our own policies and procedures.

All staff gain a Moving and Handling Certificate before they start providing care. All our induction modules are assessed by the Service Manager.
Staff have to successfully complete their induction programme before they can work alone. This involves them being observed in practice by the Service Manager or At Home Coordinator.

We also offer personal development opportunities for staff and we expect all staff to gain their SVQ 2 qualification if they don’t have one.
If you need a hoist, wheelchair or other equipment to help you live at home, then our staff will be trained in the safe use of that equipment before they come to you.
